She was born in Crowder, Oklahoma, to Howard Sherman and Edna Lee (Benson) Reed. She grew up in Crowder, where she attended school through her graduation. She married William "Bill" Banks on June 2, 1962, in Crowder. Her husband's work, as a minister, took them to several different cities, but Crowder was always home and they lived there for the past 20-plus years. She took great joy in assisting her husband with his ministry and at the Crowder Church of Christ. She was in charge of the clothing room, where they provided donated clothing to the needy. She also enjoyed working outside in her flower garden, doing crafts, reading and especially playing with her grandchildren. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel J. and Tonye L. Banks, of Crowder, and David L. and Dona L. Banks, Alma, Ark.; five grandchildren, Adam J. Banks, Rachel Banks, Emily Banks, Sarah Banks, and Abigail Banks; her mother, Edna Reed, of McAlester. Also, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Imogene Santine, of Krebs, and Twilia Gray and her husband, Harold, of McAlester; two brothers-in-law, Tom Banks and his wife, Katherine, Fort Smith, Ark., and Bob Banks and his wife, Jan, of Crowder, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Bob Yount, Joe Weddle, Monard Stancell, David Cannon, Bobby Trolinger, and Carl Garis. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Crowder Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, on Feb. 1, 2008; her father, and a sister, Mauvine Willson. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Crowder Church of Christ with Richard Jones and Frank Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Crowder Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
