Mrs. Banik was born Aug. 7, 1906, in New Ulm, the daughter of Gustav and Anna Richter. In 1908, her family moved to Gerald, where she attended school and became a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. She married Robert A. Banik on Dec. 3, 1947, in Gerald. They moved to the Bellmead area in 1954. He preceded her in death on March 10, 1988. she was a housewife and homemaker. She was also a member of St. Paul's Women's Guild. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, crocheting and taking care of all her family.
She is survived by three brothers, Henry Richter of Willis, Albert Richter and his wife Inez of Temple and Helmut "Jack" Richter and his wife Olga of Leroy; three brothers-in-law, Ernest Banik and his wife Dorothy of Elm Mott, Albert Banik and his wife Rosemary of West and Wayne Archerd and wife Erna of Coos Bay, Ore.; three godchildren, Harlan Richter of Waco, Helen Larson of Texarkana, Ark. and Diana Schroeder of West; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
