Pearl Banick was born on Oct. 13, 1915, in Perkins County, S.D., and grew up on a farm near Hettinger, N.D. She studied business and accounting, and then worked at Marigold Dairy in Rochester, where she met and married Harold Hibbing in 1940.

Pearl lived and worked in Tacoma, Wash., during World War II. She and her husband returned to Rochester, where they owned and operated East Center Super Market and Hibbing's Food Center. She was also involved in the Royal Neighbors organization and was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church for over 60 years.
