OLD RESIDENT DIES. William Banes Passes Away Last Evening. William Banes, an old resident, died at 6:30 o'clock last night at his home, 806 East Market street, of congestion of the brain. Deceased had been in ill health for several months and his death was not unexpected. He was 82 years old and leaves a daughter, Miss Allie Banes. His wife died a few weeks ago. A short time previous to her death they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Deceased was a member of Hope Lodge of Odd Fellows' and Jerusalem Encampment and of the Third Presbyterian church. He was a prominent contractor for many years and erected many of the handsome residences in this city. He was elected justice of the peace on the Republican ticket two years ago but resigned about six months ago. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from his late residence. - New Albany Evening Tribune 14 May 1900
