Nevada Pioneer Called By Death

Serafino Balzar, Father of State Senator Balzar Dies at Advanced Age

Serafino Balzar, a pioneer of Nevada, having resided in the State for the past 36 years, died in this city Christmas day at the age of 73 years. Ten years ago he was struck upon the head in an accident and never fully recovered from its effects.

The remains are at the undertaking parlors of Groesbeck & O'Brien, the funeral probably will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Deceased was a native of Switerland and father of Senator Fred B. Balzar. The wife, Mrs. Minnie Balzar, daughter, Mrs. W.A. Wade, and three sons, Fred B., H.S., and B.R. Balzar arrived in the city from their home in Mina this morning.

Mr. Balzar was a miner and connected with railroad work during the active years of his life, and a member of Esmeralda Lodge, No. 16, of Hawthorne, under which order the funeral will be conducted.
