Faye Annette Hedges, daughter of Joe and Dora (Larch) Balloun, was born Sept. 21, 1916 at Dordanelle, AR. Her death occurred Feb. 4, 1995 in the Russell Regional Hospital, after several months of failing health. Her age was 78 years, 4 months and 13 days.
Faye received her basic education in the schools at Dardanelle, AR, moving to Gorham, KS in 1933 to live with her aunt and uncle, George and Mabelle Balloun and family. She continued her education in Russell High School graduating in 1934.
She married Jerry Hedges in Dec. 1936. Upon graduation from the beauty academy in Wichita, KS, she began her profession as a cosmetologist at Ray Hollinger's Barber Shop in Russell. She worked there until her retirement several years ago.
Faye was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and VFW Auxiliary, both of Russell.
Those who preceded her in death were her parents and two sisters: Mary Ellen Adams and Katie Mae Stull. Survivors include one sister, Lillian Smith of Hiawatha, KS; one brother, Jack Balloun of Dardanelle, AR; her aunt who helped raise her, Mabelle Jenkins of Russell, KS. Other relatives are her cousins: Robert Balloun and Betty Ann Boxberger, both of Russell, KS; George Balloun of Liberal, KS; and J. Eugene Balloun of Lenexa, KS.
