John Robert Ballas, 52, went to be with the Lord his Redeemer and Savior the late evening of June 18, 2016, in UPMC Hospital in Oakland, Pittsburgh.

John was born Nov. 19, 1963, in McKeesport Hospital, the beloved son of Robert Joseph Ballas and Ellen Joan Leaghty Ballas.

He is survived by his loving children, daughter, Brittney Amber Ballas Smith (Anthony C.), of West Newton; sons, Joshua E. Ballas and Timothy S. Ballas, of Mars Hill Road, Irwin; and one grandson, Liam C. Smith.

He was predeceased on May 22, 2016, by a brother, Thomas R. Ballas, husband of Cristal Ballas, and one son, Nathaniel.

Surviving is his brothers, William R. Ballas (Sharlene), of North Huntingdon, Charles R. Ballas, Master Sergeant Retired, of Midway Park, N.C., (Debbie); his only sister, Barbara Ann Waite, of Castle Shannon; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John was baptized and confirmed in St. Johns Evangelical Church, McKeesport, and lived in Grandview until he graduated from McKeesport Sr. High School.

He later lived in the North Huntingdon and Sewickley Townships until he moved to White Oak Borough, where he has resided with his parents for several years.

The most rewarding times of his life were wrapped around the sports and activities involving his children.

His childhood and later through a lifetime, that he continued to prefer the outdoors, nature, and exploring many areas involving history.

Viewing and burial will be private at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2016, from JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Frank Todaro officiating, with interment following in the Jefferson Memorial Cemetery.
