James Roy Ballard of Waco died there in a local hospital March 30. He was 57.
Services were held April 2 at Wilkerson-Hatch Funeral Home with Rev. Ivan Kerr officiating.
Burial was in Restland Cemetery in Gatesville.
He was born near Pearl March 14, 1935, and graduated from high school there in 1953.
He married Joyce McLaughlin of Gatesville in 1957 and moved to Waco in 1959.
Mr. Ballard served more than 20 years in law enforcement, serving as Chief of Police at both Lacy-Lakeview and Northcrest.
He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Robinson.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Joyce Ballard; two daughters, Deborah Kelly and Lorri Wells; his mother, Emma Ballard; a brother, Alton Ballard; and three grandchildren, all of Waco.
