BALL, Alexander Alexander Kelsall Ball died at The Bishop Gadsden Retirement Community in Charleston, SC on February 12, 2009. Mr. Ball was born August 18, 1913 in Eastover, SC, son of Emily Heyward Clarkson and Alexander K. Ball. He graduated from The High School of Charleston, enrolled for a year at the College of Charleston and graduated in 1935 from Clemson University with a degree in Textile Engineering. Upon graduation, he went to work for Burlington Industries, serving in various capacities in Mexico, Allentown, PA, Rome, GA, Greensboro, Lexington and Asheboro, NC retiring to Charleston, in 1978. He was in the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving as a flight control officer. He was married to Mary Louisa Marron, the daughter of the late Commodore Adrian R Marron and Polly Ficken of Charleston, SC. He is survived by his wife of Charleston, SC; three sons, James Moultrie Ball and his wife Lee Ann of Greensboro, NC and Bruce Marron Ball and his wife Phoebe of Hickory, NC and Thomas Heyward Ball; four grandchildren, Patrick, Cussie, Eric and Sam. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, I. Rhett Ball of Camden, Garden C. Ball of Mobile, N. Heyward Ball (casualty of WWII) and sisters, Emily Ball Grainger of Richmond, VA. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Kelsall Ball are invited to attend the funeral services of the former Sunday, February 15, 2009 at two o'clock in The Chapel at Bishop Gadsden. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to Strawberry Chapel, 29 Creekside Drive, Mt.
