MRS. PHOEBE BALL DEAD
Mrs. Phoebe Ball, colored, 206 South Market, died Tuesday afternoon at 12:20 o'clock in the Newman Memorial County hospital.
Funeral arrangements have not been made.
Mrs. Ball was the former Phoebe Johnson. She was born March 18, 1858, in Texas. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Jana Johnson. Mrs. Ball came to Emporia in 1879. She was married to Neal Ball in June 1880. Mr. Ball died November 11, 1931, in Emporia. Mrs. Ball was a member of the St. James Baptist church.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Hattie Leslie, Mrs. Amelia Bailey, Mrs. Bessie Morrow, Mrs. Katherine McHenry and Miss Edith Ball; two sons, Tobe Ball and Harrison Ball, and two brothers, John Johnson and Caesar Johnson.

FUNERAL OF MRS. BALL
Funeral services for Mrs. Phoebe Ball, colored, who died Tuesday, were held Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the St. James Baptist church. Rev. D. St. Clair, pastor of the church, conducted the services, assisted [by] Rev. M. M. Matthews, pastor of the Mt. Olive A.M.E. church, and Rev. G. O. Cooper. The St. James church choir sang, accompanied by Mrs. Collier. Pallbearers were Clayton Williams, Arthur Moore, William Hunter, Ralph Ervin, Joseph Jobe and George O. Davis. Burial was in Maplewood cemetery.
Out-of-town relatives were Mrs. Katherine McHenry, of Salina; Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Ball, of Omaha, Neb., and Caesar Johnson, of McAllister, Okla.
