Alvin Baldwin
WASHOUGAL A lifelong resident of Washougal, Alvin Baldwin, 74, died Thursday, July 21, 1994, at Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center in Clackamas. He was born Sept. 13, 1919, in Washougal.
He had worked as an assistant foreman in the spinning department of Pendleton Woolen Mill and retired in 1981 after having worked there for 44 years.
He served in the Army during World War II and received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, the American Theater Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge with two Bronze Stars.
He was a former trustee of the Bethel Community Church, and he was the first Scout Master of Troop 312, B.S.A. in Washougal. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and growing roses.
Mr. Baldwin is survived by his wife, Rose, at home; a son, Wayne Baldwin of Camas; a daughter, Sandra J. Baldwin of Washougal; two sisters, Mabel I. Baldwin of Milwaukie, Ore. and Helen Bacon of Wentzeville, Mo.; and two grandsons.
A funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Bethel Community Church in Washougal, followed by burial in Sunnyside Cemetery in Washougal. The casket will be open from noon to 5 p.m. today at Straub's Funeral Home.
Memorial contribution may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a memorial fund at Bethel Community Church.
