Funeral services for Jim Henry Baker, Sr., 76, of Cairo, will be Saturday, December 31, 2016, at St. Thomas P.B. Church in Cairo, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery. Elder Darrell Harrison, Pastor will officiate. Active pallbearers will be nephews and friends.
Mr. Baker passed away on December 27, 2016, in Gainesville, Florida.
Born in Cario, Mr. Baker was the son of the late Henry and Gertrude Butler Baker.
Graduating from Washington Consolidated High School in 1959,
Mr. Baker was also a member of St. Thomas P.B. Church. Mr. Shelton served in the U.S. Army, was chairman deacon, on the usher board, and was finance secretary.
He is survived by daughter, Debra Gee (Judson) of Columbus; son, Jim Henry Baker, Jr. of Cairo; daughter, Jacquelyn Copeland (Darren) of Cairo; daughter, Leitha Francis (Stephen) of Cairo; grandchildren, Cameron, Aareon, Dezmond, Brandon, Jemonta, Darrie, Terence, Jr., Xavier, Shandrekia, and Amaya; great children, Brianna, Katalina, Jayla, Aaliyah, Brandon, Jr., Zailey, Jadyn, and Landen; sister, Mary Washington of Augusta; sister, Margaret Swain of Cairo; sister, Eloise Anders (William) of Charlotte, North Carolina; brother, Sandy Baker (Patricia) of Cairo; like a sister, Lucille Gordon of Cairo; sister-in-law, Catherine Baker of Cairo; a life-long friend, Betty Baker of Cairo; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
