Henry Alexander Baker, of Morgantown, a well known Certified Public Accountant throughout the tri-state area, and friend of many, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012 in Morgantown at the age of 63.Hank was born in Morgantown on July 25, 1949, a son of the late Delbert Baker and the late Irene (O'Connell) Baker.

Survivors include his four children, Robert Baker and wife Dina of Murraysville, PA, Catherine Alexandria Thorn and husband Thorn of Morgantown, Ryan Baker and wife Amy of Morgantown and Justin Baker and his fiance Rebecca Holman of Morgantown eight grandchildren and three siblings, James Baker of Potomac, MD, and Shirley Thomas and husband Andrew and Jackie Tatterson all of Charlotte, NC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Ronald Baker and David William Baker.

Hank proudly attended St. Francis High School, class of 1967. He owned and operated several accounting offices throughout the tri-state area. Previously, he had worked as a night auditor at Holiday Inn while putting himself through school, and also for the former Sterling Faucet as an accountant, and Beaumont Glass as a Productions Supervisor. Additionally in his earlier years, he worked as an EMT and funeral assistant with his father, âD.W.,â at Hastings Funeral Home, among others. He loved the ocean and lighthouses. He spent several hours volunteering his time at the Unity Apartments and at several area churches. Hank was a huge WVU fan and was obsessed with US History, the Civil War and loved talking about current events and politics. Hank always had a huge smile and a joke for anyone who would listen. He will be remembered by all as a âJack of all handyman trades,â and his great sense of humor. He never met a stranger and had an uncanny way of making everyone he came in contact with feel at ease around him.

Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 1-3 & 6-8 PM on Friday, August 10th, where a Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 7:30 PM to conclude the evening visitation. On Saturday, August 11th, Mr. Baker will be moved to St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Star City, where visitation will be held from 9 AM until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM with Father John V. DiBacco as celebrant. Following the funeral mass, Mr. Baker will be cremated and inurnment will take place with his parents at East Oak Grove Cemetery privately at a later date. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Sundale Nursing Home, the Oncology and Cardiac Departments of Ruby Memorial Hospital, Amedysis Hospice and Morgantown Hospice for their care during Hankâs illnesses as well as the friends and companions at Unity Apartments, and Linda Lazelle.
