Mrs. Baker was born April 21, 1904, at Arcadia, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Canivan Travers. She grew up in Arcadia and received her education in the Lee Park Community School near Arcadia. She married Maurice Baker on Aug. 26, 1922, at Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island where she worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant during World War II. Mr. Baker died April 15, 1973. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a life member of the Eagles auxiliary. She also was a member of the Senior Citizens.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Jerry Gillham of Grand Island, Patricia Geohring of Wood River and Mrs. Everett (Diane) Wiley of Central City, and four great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a son-in-law, Dale Wetzel of Grand Island. She was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother and three sisters.
