Evelyn (Baker) Salberg, 78 of Sioux City IA, died Monday, April 8 2013 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Tess Panamarow officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday with the family present 6-8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at the church. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel is assisting with arrangements.

Evelyn Lucille Baker was born August 26, 1934 in Sloan, IA the daughter of Irvin Earl and Geneva (Allen) Baker. She grew up and graduated from high school in Sloan. On April 17, 1953 she married Thomas Salberg in Elk Point, SD. He died June 9, 1989 in Sioux City.

Evelyn worked at Sears as a repair technician for 20 years. She retired from Sears in 1993.

She was a huge sports fanatic, especially when it came to playing golf and playing cards with her grandkids. Evelyn enjoyed the Chicago Bulls, the Chicago Cubs and playing cribbage.

Evelyn was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include six children, Pam Woebke of Ida Grove, IA, Perri Becvar and her husband, Jim of Omaha, Mark Salberg of Albuquerque, NM, Todd Salberg and Rikki of McCook Lake, SD, Eric Salberg and his wife, Suzie of Sioux City and J.D. Salberg and his wife, Dawn of Anchorage, Alaska; four sisters, Shirley Salisbury of Hobart, Indiana, Gerri Copple and her husband, Gordon of Sloan, IA, Loretta Haakinson of Salix, IA and Connie Hobart of Sioux City; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and another on the way; and nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Building Fund.
