Diana Jean Byrd, 56, of Taylorsville died unexpectedly Monday, April 13, 2009, at her home.
Mrs. Byrd attended Columbus High School and worked as a CNA for several years. She was a member of Apostolic Tabernacle Church of Edinburgh, was a bird watcher and animal lover and enjoyed NASCAR racing.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Apostolic Tabernacle, 701 S. Main St. in Edinburgh, with Pastor Mark Myers officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Born in Seymour on Dec. 15, 1952, Mrs. Byrd was the daughter of Robert and Dorla Lister Baker. She married Isaac E. "Ike" Byrd.
Survivors include her husband; her father, of Columbus; children, Sonja René Turner of Seymour, James Robert (Monica) Turner of Columbus and Valerie Jean (Lisa Mc-Combs) Turner of Clarkson, Ky.; stepchildren, Robert Byrd of Columbus and Joseph Byrd of Germany; a brother, Duke Baker of Columbus; sisters, Sylvia "Candy" Oathout of Columbus and Cathy (Mike) Ely of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren, Kevin Turner of Hanover, Braxton Turner of Taylorsville, Austin Turner of Columbus and Alyssa and Destinee Turner of Clarkson, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorla Mims; her stepfather, Herschel Mims; and a niece, Monica Ely.
