Marcella M. Barkman, 90, of East Mattie Road, Breezewood, Pennsylvania; went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at her home.
She was born on May 22, 1925 in Snake Spring Valley, Everett, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late William and Irene (Imler) Baker.
On August 18, 1945 in Cumberland, Maryland, she was united in marriage to Robert E. Barkman. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2011.
She is survived by children: Peggy married to Robert Nelson, Breezewood; Barry Barkman married to Brenda (Caro), Everett; Bill Barkman married to Nancy (Grove), Chambersburg; Eric Barkman married to Denise (Foor), Clearville; Nathan Barkman married to Paula (Wilt), Breezewood; and Lance Barkman married to Wendy (Dibert), Breezewood; twenty grandchildren, two step¬-grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one step great granddaughter.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Sheryl Jean Barkman and siblings: Josephine Cessna, Anna Ferne Leonard, Mereda Hershberger and Emmert Baker.
Mrs. Barkman was a member of the Cherry Lane Church of the Brethren.
She was a graduate of Bedford High School Class of 1941, having completed twelve years of education and graduated at the age of 15.
Marcella was a lifelong homemaker on the family dairy farm whose greatest joy was her family. She was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed reading, needlepoint and crocheting, creating a special collection of treasure for family and friends. She always had a kind word and her candy dish was never empty.
She was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett with Pastor Todd Jay officiating.
Family and Friends may call at Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Burial will be held at Ritchey Cemetery, Everett, PA.
