Benjamin F Baker he was born August 27, 1834 in Schuyler County, Illinois. He was the son of Larkin and Rosannah Baker.

(info from his Confederate Service Records) - Benjamin F. Baker enlisted November 1, 1862 at Bentonville, Arkansas for period of 12 months. He was sick and in the infirmary for most of one year. He deserted January 30, 1863. He was captured February 24, 1863 in Washington County, Arkansas. He was transferred to Gratiot Street Prison March 29, 1863, where he died April 23, 1863.

The conditions during the Civil War was bad, lack of food, shelter, clothes and sickness, what ever his reason we will never know.
