Mr. Austin Bailey was the charter member who held the torch as the vote was taken which brought into existence the Popular Spring Baptist Church in Moore, SC. Mr. Austin Bailey enlisted in the Third SC Infantry, Longhstreet's Army, and served during the entire duration of the war. He was wounded at the second battle of Mamas and served in all major battles fought in Virginia. He was a widower of the late Elivra Cox Bailey and is survived by 5 daughters and 27 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
