Mrs. Cora Lee Bailey, wife of Geo. H. Bailey, died at the home of her son, Robert C. Bailey, in Beaumont, Texas, Saturday morning. She had been in declining health for two years, a sufferer from asthma and complications. The middle of the past winter she was taken to a Lafayette hospital, where she remained under treatment several weeks. When her condition became such that she could stand the trip, she was taken to Texas by her daughter, Miss Hazel Bailey, with the hope that a change of climate would be beneficial. For awhile it seemed the hopes of Mrs. Bailey and her family would be realized, consequently the news of her death came as a great shock to her family and friends.
Mrs. Bailey was a daughter of James W. and Isabelle Clendenning Mitchell, and was born in this township on Dec. 28, 1869. She was married to Geo. H. Bailey, Jan 4, 1893.
Surviving are the husband, two sons, Robert C., of Beaumont, Texas, and James M., at home; two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Gaustad, Beaumont, Texas, and Mrs. Ruth Shuel, at home; one grandchild, one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Funk, of Stockwell, and five brothers, Charles, Harry, Walter, Frank and Ernest Mitchell.
Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Mulberry Methodist church, and the local chapter of the Eastern Star.
The body reached Mulberry, Monday forenoon, accompanied by her son and son-in-law, Robert Bailey and Carl G. Gaustad. The funeral service was conducted by Pastor Bigler in the M. E. church, Wednesday afternoon, and the burial was at Fair Haven.
