Annie Lee Bailey, 80, of LaGrange died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Bailey was born Jan. 13, 1923, in Randolph County, daughter of the late Luther and Lura Whitmore Cofield. She and her husband lived throughout Michigan, California and Texas during and after World War II, in which she served her country as a Rosie the Riveter. They returned to LaGrange to raise their family, where she later owned and
operated a florist shop, Ann Bailey's Flowers and Gifts, for 42 years. As a member of Franklin Road Baptist Church and the Troup and Heard County communities, Ann delighted in providing pretty flowers and her signature sweet touch to all her friends and customers' needs. She loved travel, people, family and a good joke.
Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. at Franklin Road Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jimmie L. Willis and the Rev. R. C. Prescott officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Huey G. "Sam" Bailey of LaGrange; three children, Jim Bailey of Gabbettville, Ga., Sammy Bailey of Franklin, Ga., and Dolly Fowler of LaGrange; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Maryjane Embry of LaGrange; two brothers, Hope Cofield and Danny Cofield of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Cofield.
