Elbert A. Bailey, 69, passed away in his home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was the son of Dr. Vaughn and Anna Mae (Beard) Bailey. He married Madge Britton, the daughter of Homer and Dora (Pickens) Britton, on December 20, 1941 and she survived him.
He was employed for 23 years with the Girton Brothers Trucking in Lawrenceville.
He was elected Lawrence County Treasurer and he was also elected Lawrence County Sheriff.
He was a member of the First Cristian Church in Lawrenceville, the Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star.
In addition to his wife, he was survived by a son, Dr. Robert A. Bailey; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Mack Seed and Jane and Ron Fisher; a sister, Geraldine Shadowens; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Elbert A. Bailey were held on January 20, 1990 in the Emmons-Macey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville followed by interment in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
