LEXINGTON--Services for Margaret "Peggy" Elizabeth Steenbergen, 78, of Lexington, will be held at 2pm Thursday, October 26, 2006 in Columbia First Church of the Nazarene, officiated by Rev. Geoff Kunselman. Burial will follow at Celestial Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peggy B. Steenbergen Memorial Fund c/o Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union, 2120 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia, SC 29169. The family will receive friends from 6-9pm Wednesday, October 25, 2006, at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington.
Ms. Steenbergen died Monday, October 23, 2006. Born in Ashland, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Bert Felix Baer and Margaret Naomi Sloan Baer. Formerly of Ironton, Ohio, she had been a local resident here since 1976. Ms. Steenbergen was a member of Columbia First Church of the Nazarene for 30 years and a former Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, walking and dancing with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Charles Reese of Lexington; sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Vanessa Steenbergen of Atlanta, GA., Ron and Laura Steenbergen of Hamilton, OH., Dirk and Ruth Steenbergen of Valley, AL.; brothers, Melvin Baer of Ashland, KY., Charles Baer and George Baer both of Burlington, N.C., and Leslie Baer of Flatwoods, KY; eight grandchildren, Maggie and Michael Reese, Amy Steenbergen, Michaela and Zack Steenbergen, Jonathan E. Steenbergen, Landon and Mallory Steenbergen;
