Edith was working as a factory hand in New Britain when she married Leon W. Bacon on December 31, 1921. They had three children: Charles (1922-1987), Shirley (1925-2018) and Dorothy (1928-2018).
Leon and Edith Bacon raised their children in New Britain, until they moved to Newington in the 1930s. When Leon retired in the early 1960s, he and Edith moved to Florida, where they lived until she passed away on May 29, 1978, at age 80.
Edith Bacon was preceded in death by her parents, by her sister, Alice, by her brother, Charles, and by a grandson, James Healy (1951-1968). She was survived by her children, her sister, Ethel, her brother, James, fifteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
"Edie" Bacon is remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who enjoyed spending time with family most of all, or corresponding with loved ones when she couldn't be with them. She also enjoyed traveling up and down the East Coast with her husband in the Volkswagen Campmobile they owned. She would chronicle her trips in a journal, and collect glasses from all the states she visited.
