Rachel B. Gordon, age 99, beloved daughter, wife and aunt, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2005 in Albuquerque, NM surrounded by her loving family. Rachel was born on November 9, 1905 to Rafael and Manuelita (Martínez) Baca in Socorro, NM. Everyone who met Aunt Rachel loved her.
Rachel enjoyed cooking, baking and watching football.
Rachel was a parishioner at the San Miguel Catholic Church. Rachel worked at Carrie Tingley Hospital for children in Tucumcari, NM as a nurse's aid. Rachel was a very loving aunt, and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Rachel was a lady with many friends and a friend to many people.
Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Eugene Gordon on June 7, 1992, brother, Ralph Baca and his wife, Jennie, sisters, Jennie López and her husband, Pedro and Katie López and her husband, Nep Sr.
Rachel is survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
A Rosary was recited on Monday, March 21, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at San Miguel with Father John C. Daniel as Celebrant. Interment will be in the San Miguel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Victor Jojola, Paul López, Nep López Jr., Rudy Marabal, Kenneth Peralta and Vicente Peralta. Honorary Pallbearers WIll be Robert Jojola, Allan Jojola and Joe Montaóo. A reception will be held immediately following the services at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 517 Hwy 60, Socorro, NM.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to La Vida Felicidad-Lala Chávez and providers, Dr. Norman Reid and staff, Paloma Blanca Health and Rehabilitation, Dr. Jesús Gonzáles and staff, Heartland Hospice, Lorrie Griego and staff and family and friends for their support during Rachel's illness and her passing.
