Manuel I. C de Baca, a native New Mexican, was born on October 23, 1921 and passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 6, 2000. Manuel, better known as Manny, was born and raised in Albuquerque, and was retired from Kirtland Air Force Base. During his retirement years, he volunteered esxtensively throughout the community. Manny developed a love for race-walking and won numerous awards and medals. Manny also participated in the National Senior Olympics on two different occasions. His suriviors include his wife of 52 years, Perciliana, his daughters, Cathy C de Baca of Albuquerque, and her daughters, Brynn and Shawnda Sartain, Magdalen Forrest of Trophy Club, TX and her husband, David and her daughters, Cristen and Cara, Bobbie C de Baca of Albuquerque and her daughter, Jaimie Krzynski, his son, Manuel C de Baca and his wife, Shirley and his faithful and loving "babies" (his dogs), Bella and Oreo. Rosary will be recited on Monday, October 9, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE, with Deacon James Baca, reciting. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pena Blanca, NM, with Father Hilaire Valiquett and Father Mike Cimino, Celebrants. Pallbearers will be Manuel C de Baca, son, David Forrest, son-in-law; John Rose, dear friend, Mitchell Delaney, special young friend and granddaughters, Brynn Sartain, Shawnda Sartain, Cristen Forrest, Cara Forres and Jaimie Krzynski. Honorary pallbearers will be Hector Martinez, Abe Padilla, Frank Best, George Jacobsen, Chris Baca and Ike Lucero. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1330 San Pedro NE, Suite 205, Albuqerque, 87110. (bio by: P Barela)
