Mrs. Non Lucero, 82, of Portales, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at her home.
She was born on Feb. 19, 1919 in Dalia to Rosa and Lorenzo Baca.
Mrs. Lucero made her home in the Vallanueva area until 1963. She married Jesus Maria Lucero in 1937. The couple owned a grocery store in the Villanueva community until moving to Portales. She was active in Los Abuelitos and also in the senior citizens. Mrs. Lucero was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; two sisters; a son, Herman Lucero in 1997; and by her husband in 1968.
Mrs. Lucero is survived by five sons, Fred Lucero of Grants, Benny Lucero of Rockport, Texas, Pete Lucero, Tony Lucero, Liberato (Tiny) Lucero, all of Portales; two daughters, Marcela Lucero and Marie Lovato, both of Portales; three brothers, Bernardiono Baca of Clovis, Julian Baca of Loma Linda, and Lorenzo Baca Jr. of Loma Linda; three sisters, Andrea Armijo of La Loma, Josie Baca of Albuquerque, and Margaret Baca of California; 34 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Saturday and again at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Helen Catholic Church in Portales.
The Rev. Tobin Hitt will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in the Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Pete Lucero Jr., Arthur Lucero, Danny Lucero, Eloy Vigil, Jessie Joe Cavazos and Norman Patterson.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
