CANKTON- Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 13, 2016 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton for Mr. Jean Batiste Babineaux, age 87, who passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at his residence in Cankton.
Interment will be in St. John Berchmans Cemetery in Cankton. The Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington, pastor of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Mr. Babineaux was a native and lifelong resident of Cankton.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Vivian St. Romain Babineaux of Cankton; two sons, Tommy Babineaux of Opelousas and Phillip Royer and his wife, Heidi, of Cankton; two daughters, Glenda Dugas of Cankton of Cankton and Gloria Faul and her husband, Mark, of Arnaudville; one sister, Shirley Dugas of Cankton; seventy grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alphonse Babineaux and the former Doris Royer; one son, Tony Babineaux; one daughter, Jackie Lavergne; one brother, Johnny Babineaux; and one sister, Audrey Thibodeaux.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday and will remain open all night until service time on Thursday.
