Born in Orange, NY. Thirty year old shoe cutter, resident of Groton Junction, MA when he enlisted at Fitchburg, MA. Described as being 5' 10" tall, light complexion, blue eyes and brown hair. He was wounded in the right arm at Wilderness, VA on 06 MAY 1864. Absent sick until discharged. He applied for a pension on 16 FEB 1865. Application #61,409. His widow Susan (Polly) Babbitt applied for a pension from MA on 16 MAY 1887. Application # 354,946.
