"After a short illness Mrs. Rachel Brougham, widow of John Brougham, peacefully passed away Monday morning. Aug. 1st, aged 82 years. Mrs. Brougham was born in the town of Root, where she resided until the time of her marriage with John Brougham after which they lived some time at Rural Grove, then at Sloansvllle, where Mr. Brougham died about nine years ago. The last few years of her life have been spent on her farm near Flat Creek. She was a member of the Baptist church at Ames, which she united with in her youth. Besides a son she leaves two sisters and a wide circle of friends to mourn her loss. The funeral was held last Wednesday at the house. Rev. C. A. Buker of Ames officiating. Interment in Sloansvllle cemetery.
