Carol Ayers was born on Oct. 15, 1937, at Madison to Milton and Virginia Ayers. She attended school in Junius and graduated from Beadle Campus School. She went on to nurses training at the University of South Dakota. She worked as a head nurse at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md., where she married Dr. George Leiby. They lived in Baltimore, Nashville, Tenn., and El Paso, Texas, before settling in Albuquerque, N.M. She continued her education at UNM in psychology and sociology, graduating in 1985.
Survivors include her husband, George of Corrales, N.M.; a son, Jonathan of Temecula, Calif.; a daughter, Jacquelyn Leiby of Norrkoping, Sweden; three grandchildren; her father, Milton Ayers of Madison; two brothers, Gaylord (Brenda) Ayers of Ashland City, Tenn., and Roger (Sandra) Ayers of Madison; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her mother, Virginia Ayers.
There will be no services.
