Donna T. Parsons Ayers, 81, of Kingsbury Avenue, Towanda, Pa., passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 following a courageous battle against cancer.
Donna was born in Albany Township on June 9, 1932, a daughter of the Frank and Rita Hoyt Teeter. She was a graduate of New Albany High School in 1951. Donna was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Towanda and was an active member of the Towanda, Athens and Wyalusing Senior Citizens Organizations where she loved going on trips, attending dinners, special occasions, and the yearly auction which she was able to attend this year.
On Jan. 10, 1953, Donna married Donald Parsons in Dushore, Pa. Subsequent to Donald's death in 1983, she married Leland Ayers on Feb. 14, 1986, in Wysox, Pa. Prior to her retirement, Donna was employed by Memorial Hospital Home Health as a home health aide, a job that she truly enjoyed. During her life, she also worked at various local factories.
She will be deeply missed by her surviving family; husband Leland Ayers of Towanda; daughter Tracey Parsons of Athens; five sons Marc (Patricia) Teeter of Evergreen, Daniel Parsons of New Albany, Bill Parsons of New Albany, Rick Parsons (Danielle) of Towanda, and Ralph Parsons of New Port Richey, Fla.; two step-sons Butch (Roxie) Ayers of Towanda and Gary (Debbie) Ayers of Sayre; three grandsons Devin (Brandy) Teeter of Waverly, Thomas Parsons of Towanda and Justin Hunsinger of Towanda; granddaughter Breanna Parsons of Athens; step-grandsons Brock Ayers and John Ayers, step-granddaughter Tonya Ayers; sister Leah Hugo of New Albany; sister-in-law Juanita Teeter of Towanda as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and first husband she is preceded in death by a grandson Dylan Parsons; three sisters Eileen Wells, Bernita Williams and Verna Teeter and brother, Robert "Bill" Teeter.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Avenue, with Pastor James Hollister officiating. Interment will be in the Bradford County Memorial Park, Burlington Township, Pa. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until noon on Thursday at the funeral home.
