Clifford M. Aycoth, Sr. 80, of Charlotte, went to his heavenly home on January 16, 2002.

Born in Union County on January 1, 1922 to the late James Bundy Aycoth and Bertie Moore Aycoth, he was self-employed and owned Aycoth Furniture Center. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Martha Sue Aycoth; his sister, Libby Dean Allen; brother-in-law, Lee Allen; and sisters-in-law, Ala Mae Aycoth and Dot Aycoth. His six children are Clifford Marshall Aycoth, Jr., Susan Hilton, Dean Aycoth, Sherri Stutts, Derrick Aycoth and Elaine Stone; with his daughters-in-law, Jennie Aycoth, Brenda Aycoth and Michelle Aycoth; and sons-in-law, Roy Stutts, Jr. and Bobby Stone.

Also surviving are his 12 grandchildren, Shane Aycoth, Jason Aycoth, Angela Poulous, Jeff Hilton, Sr., Heather Aycoth, Allison Aycoth, Matthew Aycoth, Michael Clontz, John Aycoth, Shayla Aycoth, Curt Stone and David Stone; and six great grandchildren, Bennet C. Aycoth, Haylee Hilton, Jeffery Hilton, Jr., Ashlee Hilton, Alex Poulous and Nicholas Poulous.

Visitation will be at 1 PM on Saturday, January 19, at the Wilson Chapel of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 5301 Albemarle Road, with the funeral service on Saturday at 2 PM and graveside service following at Sharon Memorial Park. The Reverend Virginia Forbes of St. Luke United Methodist Church will officiate. A memorial can be given to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 2019 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28205.

Clifford went Heaven to be with God on January 16, 2002. His smiles and laughter is greatly missed. He used to enjoy holding his babies. He would balance and stand the babies in the palm of his hand. He cherished the times spent with his grandchildren. He was a husband who was adored and loved dearly by Martha Sue. He was honored and loved by all of his family and friends.
