He is survived by his father, John Edward Axcell of Monmouth, Ill.; his mother, Roxie Ann (Olson) Axcell of Galesburg; and a niece, Kathleen Nicole Axcell of Galesburg.
John graduated from Alexis High School and received his certificate in welding from Carl Sandburg College. He worked as a welder in the automotive field.
