Henry Keith Awbrey Retired Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 3 at 10:00 A.M. at Lindsay Cemetery for Henry Keith Awbrey, 97 of Lindsay, who passed away November 23. Pastor Jim Rogers will officiate and interment will follow. Keith, as he was known, was born December 3, 1916 in Exeter to James Coleman Awbrey and Zada Barlow Awbrey. He attended local schools and graduated from Strathmore High School with the Class of 1936. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II where he served in the European Conflict. Keith was very proud of his military service and was always devoted to his country. He was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post as well as the American Legion. Keith worked on various neighborhood farms over the years as well as for Knudsen Dairy and then retired from the State Hospital where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. He was a rock hound and enjoyed creating beautiful things. He also enjoyed being with his family. As long as he was able, Keith attended the Foothill Presbyterian Church, formerly St. Andrews, where he was an ordained Elder. On January 6, 2001, Keith married Susan H. Williams Fiske in Morro Bay and of course Keith and Susan made their home in Lindsay. Keith was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Delveta Heavner Awbrey in 1992; his sisters Lura Esther Sellick and Elizabeth Adaline Van Deventer and a brother Arlow Awbrey. He is survived by his wife Susan Fiske Awbrey of Lindsay; and his sons John Colman Awbrey of Bend, Oregon and Joe Bill Awbrey of Lancaster as well as five grandchildren; five great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. No visitation is planned. Webb Sanders Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements
