Arthur M. Avery, age 88 of Lincoln, died Thursday, August 9, 2007 in Lincoln. He was born on April 25, 1919 in Huron, SD to William F. and Bessie M. (Hart) Avery.

He married Alvina Z. Clyde on October 19, 1947 in Savage, Montana. The eternal sealing of their marriage took place in the temple in Washington, D.C. on November 20, 1999. Arthur was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, as well as the VFW. He was a past president of the Wolbach Community Club, and he performed volunteer services of many kinds. Arthur loved reciting poetry and telling jokes. He was a hard worker who loved his family.

Survivors include his wife Alvina of Lincoln; children Beverley A. Kettleson of Lincoln; Raymond C. Avery of Elbert, CO; Charlene M. (William) Pipkin of Orem, UT; Al A. (Terry) Avery of Grand Island; Gerald D. (JoAnn) Avery of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren Eileen Crosby, Jerad (Leila) Avery, Kathleen (Michael) Boyd, Miranda (Robert) Peltier, Donald (Stephanie) Smith, SSG Nathan Avery, Sarah (Jon) Moyer, Levi Pipkin, Dr. Eric (Maran) Avery, Victoria Avery, Dawn Avery, Andrea M. Avery, Andrea K. Avery, Rachel Pipkin, and Daniel Pipkin; a dozen great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

He is preceded in death by sons William Franklin Avery and Lee Francis Avery; his mother and father; brother John S. Avery; sisters Mary Avery Stevens Hines, Edith Avery Hart, and Elizabeth "Billie" Avery McKinney Cerletti; and son-in-law Robert V. Kettleson.

A funeral service will be held Monday, August 13, 2007 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3000 Old Cheney Rd, Lincoln, NE, with the Bishop Cody Hollist officiating.

Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Lynch, NE.
