Ruby (Autry) Alexander, a resident of Milford, was the daughter of John Earl and Mildred (Ward) Autry. She grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas; where she graduated from Lincoln High School. After attending Chicago School of Nursing, she worked in the Medical Base Corps, Special Sections, Hill Field Airforce Base in Ogden, Utah. A residen of Connecticut for more than 40 years, she was a graduate of Housatonic Community Technical College of Bridgeport. Ruby worked for Park City Hospital in Bridgeport as a Unit Secretary, from where she retired after 20 years. After retirement, Ruby became a dedicated volunteer for the heart, lung and cancer funds, and was a Blue Bird leader with the YWCA. She was also a member of many organizations.
Ruby was the wife of the late Rev. Sidney H. Alexander, Jr.; mother of Sidney H. Alexander III of San Diego, Saundra Alexander Archer of Chicago, and Steven Ward Alexander of West Haven. She was the grandmother of Christina Alexander of San Diego, Jocelyn Monique and Saundra Davita Alexander, daughters of Maryellen Green of New Britain, Alton Archer of Chicago, and Shanell Russell of West Haven. She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul John Autry.
A memorial service was held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, New Haven.
