Annell Hesterman Austin, age 77, passed away peacefully March 5, 1997.

Annell was born August 26, 1919 in Amsterdam, Holland. She immigrated with her parents to the United States in 1921 and came through Ellis Island, New York. She married Gordon P. Austin June 28, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple.

She was a member of the LDS Church and served in many positions including MIA President, Drama Director and Tabernacle Choir Hostess. She served an LDS mission to the California Fresno Mission in 1983-1985 with her husband, Gordon.

Annell was a real estate agent and was employed by Christensen Realty, Grant Realty, Jerry Young Realty, Prowswood and Woodstone Real Estate. She was also a licensed massage therapist.

Annell, with her exceptional creativity, produced many memorable events for her church and community. She co-produced the Days of '47 Tabernacle Pageant; designed many award winning floats for the Days of '47 Parade; wrote and produced numerous Holladay Stake New Years Eve Extravaganzas; wrote and directed many roadshows; did work for BYU Motion Picture Department; wrote, produced and directed events promoting scouting for the Great Salt Lake Council along with other productions for the General Boards of the LDS Church.

Annell is survived by her husband, Gordon P., Draper, Utah; sons, DeMeade H. (Diane) Austin and Torry L. Austin; daughter, Debbie A. (Philip) Blomquist; sister-in-law, Barbara S. Hesterman, all of Salt Lake City; brothers, James S.(Joanne) and Lenny (Naomi) Hesterman, both of Phoenix, Ariz., John W. (Ellen) Hesterman, San Marcos, Calif.; 7 grandchildren. Preceded in death by father, William B. Hesterman; mother, Ida Maria Hesterman; brother, William B. Hesterman, Jr. and sister, Mary Hesterman.

Annell suffered from Alzheimer's Disease and resided in the Alzheimer's Unit of Sandy Regional for the past four years. The family is most appreciative and grateful for the dedicated, loving care givers of Sandy Regional. They truly loved Annell and made her final years pleasant ones.

Funeral Services will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 S. 1700 E. on Monday, March 10, 1997, 11 a.m. Friends may call Sunday, March 9, 1997 6-8 p.m. and Monday, one hour prior to services. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
