Final Rites Held for Former Resident
Albert Denny Austin
Funeral Services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at the Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord for Albert Denny Austin, a former Arlington resident. Rev. James R. Otterness officiated, and entombment was in the Sunset Mausoleum in Odessa with Masonic rites conducted by Lodge 995.
Austin, 53, died at 6 a.m. Nov. 29 in Medical Center Hospital after a lengthy illness. He lived at 1620 Castle.
He had worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 32 years. Born in Arlington, he was an Odessa resident for the past 20 years.
Austin was a member of the Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge, and Evening Lions Club, and had served on the Odessa City Planning Board. He was a former president of the Telephone Pioneers and the Retired Telephone Pioneers and a member of the Permian Band Boosters.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ronald D., Alan Dale, and David Ray, all of Odessa; his mother, Mrs. Minnie Austin, Arlington; two brothers, Ray L. and Claude, both of Arlington; and two sisters; Mrs. Faye Briggs and Mrs. Hazel Rhodes, also of Arlington.
