Barbara (Trawick) Austin, 72, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 2, 2011.

Mrs. Austin was the wife of the late James Franklin Austin (1939-1981) and was the daughter of the late Milton and Irene (Campbell) Trawick.

Mrs. Austin retired from Spartanburg School District 7 where she taught first grade for many years at Z. L. Madden Elementary. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church; she taught piano lessons in her home and was the church pianist at several area churches; she was a former commissioner for the City of Spartanburg Human Rights Commission and was past president of Beta Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.

Survivors include one daughter, Kimberley Austin; three sons, Eric Austin and his wife Carol of Greenville, Jeff Austin, and Chris Austin and his fiance' JoAnne of Woodruff; one brother, Mack Milton Trawick and three grandchildren.

Visitation was 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 5, 2011 at Living Waters Funeral Home and Crematory.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2011 at Living Waters with Rev. David Swofford officiating followed by interment in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorials were made to Miracle Hill Ministries, Spartanburg, South Carolina.
