Hugo C. Austin of McClellanville, a retired heavy equipment operator, died Sunday at his residence. The funeral will be at 11am today in Russell Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. Burial will be in New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery, Shulerville.

Mr. Austin was born February 9, 1924, in Berkeley County, a son of Willis W. Austin and Susan Austin Austin. He was a Baptist.

Surviving are his wife, Ella White Austin; three daughters, Susan A. Austin of Summerville, Terry Austin of Cross, Dorothy Jeffcoat of Orangeburg; two sons, Bruce Austin and William Austin, both of Cross; a stepdaughter, Elaine Hutchinson of Mount Pleasant; four stepsons, Kevin Hutchinson of Charleston, David Hutchinson of Norfolk, VA, George Hutchinson of Mount Pleasant and James Chestnut of Smoaks; two half-brothers, Willis W. Austin Jr. of Hanahan and Jervey Austin of Moncks Corner; two half sisters, Margie Gibson of Anderson and Mary Wiley of Greenville; 15 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
