He was born July 6, 1918, in Climax, to Charles J. and Margie F. Wolfe Austin.
He was employed at Eljer as a water tester. He was the co-owner and operator of G&L; Restaurant in Kiddie Land from 1979 to 1984.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his entire family, especially Michael John, who lived with him.
He is survived by his three sons, Leonard Gary Austin and his wife, Stella, of Conneaut Lake, David A. Schreckengost and his wife, Shirley, of Templeton, and Charles Duane Austin and his wife, Helen, of Sandy Lake; two daughters, Janet Snyder and her husband, Fred, of Washington, Pa., and Leona Wiand and her husband, Justin, of Greenville; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Christina Craig of Sharon, Cornelia Nulph of New Bethlehem and Edna Williams of Widnoon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Sara Anthony Austin; and his second wife, Geraldine M. Schreckengost Austin.
He frequently visted his daughter and family in Greenville,PA. He loved playing and being with the 3 grandchildren and spoiling them they adored him. To them he was known as "Pappy".
The grandchildren were ofter found at his house during the summer months, enjoying time with their favorite grandparent.
