HATTERAS - Albert Willie Austin, Sr., 88, Died Monday at an Elizabeth City hospital. Mr. Austin was born in Hatteras.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a retired Army Corps engineer. Mr. Austin was a member of Hatteras United Methodist Church, the Manteo Masonic Lodge #521 and a member of the VFW. He was the son of the late Russell Jones Austin and Annie O'Neal Austin. He was the husband of Lona Stowe Austin of the home.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Eileen Miller; one step-daughter, Rae Farrow, both of Buxton; one son, Albert W. Austin, Jr. of Hatteras; two brothers: Hilton Austin of St. Augustine, Fla. and Bruce Austin of Hatteras; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service with Masonic Rites will be held June 28 at the Hatteras United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jim Huskins and Don Brown officiating. Twiford's Island Chapel, Hatteras, is in charge of arrangements.
