Margaret Auld Ainsworth was born September 13, 1921, in Buckner, Missouri, to Dewitt Clinton Auld and Ida Laura Chappelow Auld. She died in Austin, Texas, on June 20, 1998.

She graduated from Buckner High School where she participated in basketball and drama. She completed nurse's training at St. Joseph's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1942. She served with the 127th U.S. Army General Hospital in England and France from 1943 to 1945, achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant. It was there that she met Dr. William H. Ainsworth, whom she married on June 23, 1946.

They lived in Galveston, Texas, for 41 years and retired to Hallettsville, Texas, in 1987. She moved to Heartland Healthcare Center in Austin, Texas, in 1977. Margaret was an active member of both the Junior League and the Galveston Historical Society. She had a keen interest in gencology and was an avid gardener and enjoyed bird watching, bridge and entertaining friends and family.

Margaret Ainsworth is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Bernice Auld Morton; brother, Clinton Dewitt Auld Jr.; and grandson, William H. Ainsworth IV.

Survivors include children, Peggy Elam and husband, Ron, of Bryan, Texas, Bill Ainsworth and wife, Joanne, of Boston, Massachussetts, Patty Ainsworth and husband, Steve Derrick, of Austin, Texas, and Karen Yates and husband, Rick, of Pflugerville, Texas. Also grandchildren, Jody Elam, Chris Elam, Jenny Elam, Becky Ainsworth and Nathan Ainsworth; brother-in-law, Ed Ainsworth, of Amarillo, Texas, and sister-in-law, Alice Ainsworth, of Georgetown, Texas; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family is especially appreciative of the care given by Dr. Kimberly Galusha and Mary Burgess, as well as everyone at Heartland Healthcare Center, Kelly Assisted Living and Hospice Austin.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to Hospice Austin or your local Hospice chapter.

A memorial service will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home at 3125 North Lamar in Austin on Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at 1:00 p.m.
