LARNED - Gerald E. Atteberry, 85, died June 7, 1997, at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Joseph Campus, Larned.
He was born Nov 22, 1911 at Ray, the son of Guy M. and Grace Amanda Birkes Atteberry.
He attended Maple Grove School, Pawnee Rock.
A Larned resident since 1994, moving from Garfield, he retired from Pawnee County Co-op.
He was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church, Larned, Lions Club and Over 50 Club, and he was a former Garfield City Council member, all at Garfield.
On July 1, 1937, he married Erma M. Sherwood at Ashland. She survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Ron, Evanston, Wyo, Ken, Claflin, Pastor Robert, Manhattan, and Dean, Salina; two sisters, Velma Gish, Lyons, and Eva Hiett, Denver; four brothers, Earl, Hutchinson, Darrell and Arlis, both of Larned, and Duane, Phoeniz, Ariz; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Buck, and two brothers, Clifford and Glenn.
Funeral will be at 2 pm Monday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Pastor Roger Larsen presiding. Friends may call from 9 am to 8 pm today and until service time Monday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Pawnee Rock Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the church in care of the mortuary.
