Mrs. Ada Ruth Atkinson, 71, widow of Rev. Floyd Atkinson, died early Saturday morning in Memorial Hospital. She was born Dec. 18, 1896 in Lecompton, Kansas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. McClanahan. She was married to Rev. Atkinson Nov. 7, 1912 in Topeka and he preceder her in death May 15, 1963. Mr. Atkinson was District Conference Superintendent of the United Brethern Church. Mrs. Atkinson had lived in the Abilene community for 48 years and was a member of the United Brethern Church of Abeline.
She is survived by five sons, Dwight, Abilene; Wesley, Salt Lake City, UT; Floyd, Minneapolis, MN; Gerald, El Dorado, KS; Lee, Abilene; three daughters, Mrs. H. Kuntz, Huntington, Ind; Mrs. C. France, Abilene; Mrs. Dasle Koelling, Onaga; two brothers, Walter McClanahan, Topeka; Guy McClanahan, Effington; one sister, Mrs. George Whipple, Topeka; 28 grandchildren and 16 great granchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, two brothers, one sister, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the United Brethern Church Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Britt Cordell and Rev. Warren Else3 ofrficiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Lecompton, Kansas at 3:30 p.m. The Martin Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
