Daniel Atkinson, the son of Thomas Atkinson and Elizabeth Hartsock, married his 1st wife Sarah H. Long the daughter of Hiram Long and Winifred Denney, They were married on July 22nd, 1854 in Jay County, Indiana.

After the death of Elizabeth, Daniel married his 2nd wife, Barbara Ellen Zeiler the daughter of John R. Zeiler and Barbara Berkheimer. They were married on February 18th, 1875 in Jay County, Indiana.

After the death of Barbara, Daniel married his 3rd wife, Melissa Margaret Lindley the daughter of John B. Linley and Hanna Holley. They were married on September 5th, 1880 in Madison, Jay County, Indiana.

"Daniel Atkinson, one of Jay Counties oldest citizens, and the organizer of the Alliance movement in this county, died last Saturday evening and was buried on Monday." (Portland Commercial Review, Thursday, February 25, 1892, pg 1, col 7.) Contributed by family members
