Eva Alexander, 100, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at University Park Nursing in Des Moines.

She was born March 4, 1912, in Maxwell, Iowa, to Art and Tisha Atkinson.

Eva was a life-long homemaker and resident of Des Moines. She was an active member of Ft. Des Moines Open Bible Church, and volunteered at Bethel Mission. Eva enjoyed baking, crocheting, knitting, and collecting thimbles.

Eva is survived by her children, Gary Randall of Las Vegas, NV, David Alexander of St. Charles, IL, Ruby Wood of Monterey, CA, and Larry Alexander of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett Alexander.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, and also from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, with funeral services beginning at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 7th at the funeral home. Eva will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery next to her husband, Garnett.
