Edward Spear Atkinson II nicknamed Ted ,was born at Old St Marys Texas (now a ghost town)to Annette Lucy Russell B. Helena texas 1855 & Edward spear Atkinson I.Sr. born 1845 Brooklyn NY .he was one of 6 children .He learned about civil engineering Buss .From his family ,his grandfather ,Charles Arden Russell, was one of the original surveyors of Texas commissioned by Sam Houston.. In his early Business life 1905-he was employed in building the Orient Railroad from Kansas city to Topolobampo mexico ,now owned by the santa fe railroad..Also he was chief engineer of texas and brazos valley railroad,dist engineer for state of texas,asst. engineer of harris county tx.county surveyor of brazoria county tx. The business Ted Started with his sons is still running today. run by Teds grandson. He met Mabel Clare Mount and they had 4 children Robert ,Charles ,Edward III and Mina Louise Atkinson. he had 8
grandchildren.He was a good fun loving man. He helped take care of his 2
young granddaughters when his son Charles was murdered by a drunk driver.in 1952 ,by paying off their home and car and hiring a nanny to take care of the girls while their mother went back to work.He was always there when any of his family needed help. A great example to all his descendants . Miss him so much . Rest in peace Poppy.Love Leah
