James Lincoln Atkinson
James Lincoln Atkinson, 79, son of Clifford and Esther Atkinson, born Feb. 12, 1933, in Brady, departed this life, May 21, 2012.He was a graduate of Brady High School and of the University of Nebraska with a Bachelors of Architecture in 1955. Jim served two years in the Army Reserves as a first lieutenant in Korea. After his return to the states, he settled in Portland, Ore., where he was an architect, and a partner in firms until he retired in 1995.
Jim enjoyed challenging his mind and spent many hours learning about history, especially British history. He was also intrigued with words and was a master at crossword puzzles. Jim was loved by his extended family and many memories were shared during vacations on the Oregon coast and his trips back to Colorado and Nebraska.
Jim Atkinson is survived by his sister, Maxine (Allen) Fickenscher; his niece Nancy (John) Gerrard; his nephews, Tim (Carol Windrum) Fickenscher; and Tom (Cindy) Fickenscher, all living in Nebraska; seven grand nieces and nephews, a great-grand niece and two great-grand nephews and many friends. His remains will be buried at Fort McPherson Cemetery.
